West
Genesee High School To Transform Over Next Three Years
Voters
approved a bond referendum on November 9 {1999} to transform
the 44-year-old West Genesee High School into a modern
facility better able to serve students and community.
Of
the 3,155 voters, 2,593 voted in favor of the $30.9 million
renovation for which state aid and a voter-approved capital
reserve fund will finance 80.2% of the project.
As
part of the project, 12.1 acres of Camillus Mall property
which housed the former K-Mart will be purchased for a
bus garage. Work on converting that building will begin
this summer. The total project will take three years and
is planned so that students will not have to vacate the
building.
